An Evening with Gilbert
and Sullivan Trial by Jury Sevenoaks School, Pamoja
Hall Tickets are now on sale The first half will consist of chorus and solo items from the well-known and beloved range of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, including Ruddigore, Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, The Mikado and The Gondoliers. In The Mikado, the 'Three little maids from school', will be sung by actual schoolgirls, who will be joining us from Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School. The plan is to also have them as the bridesmaids in Trial by Jury. This will be followed by a full staging of Trial by Jury. The operetta tells the tale of a trial in which a young lady sues her ex-lover, in a case of "breach of promise of marriage." The cast includes a womanising judge, a tearful plaintiff, a roguish defendant, a incompetent jury, The most irregular proceedings result in a verdict of mirth and merriment. Done with the usual Kentish Opera flair, with orchestra and professional soloists, along with the superb Kentish Opera chorus. It is directed by Stephen Antony Brown, with Robyn Sevastos as Musical Director. |

On our recent production of Verdi's Aida "truly stunning and a privilege to watch up close - more immediate than a West End production and the better for it - and without paying London prices." "you know you are in for a wonderful evening, and Aida didnt disappoint. All the elements of grand opera are there - set, lighting, costumes ... professional performances, superlative orchestra, excellent direction ... this Aida was a joy to watch, what more to say!!"
Robyn Sevastos guided us through the programme of popular opera, sung wonderfully by soloists Stephen Antony Brown, Helen Bailey, Natasha Day and the glorious Kentish Opera chorus. Robyns narration was very informative, giving us an insight into to the work that Sally had directed. It was also touching that her husband and son were in the audience and her daughter in the chorus. Keep up the good work for Opera in Kent." Gordon Harris, NODA SE
"Soloists Stefanie Kemball-Read, Felicity Buckland, Giles Davies and Jonathon Cooke ... giving us excellent performances, backed up by the glorious sound of the Kentish Opera chorus" - NODA "a great show... I look forward to next years event" "a fabulous afternoon" ... "Congratulations on a lovely performance" "A really lovely afternoon. Superb singing and beautiful costumes" "We very much enjoyed
the evening, in a lovely setting with glorious costumes.
